Alliance Leaders J.J. Bartlett, President of Fishing Partnership Support Services; Roger Freeman, Founder and President of Solventerra; and Tedd Saunders, CEO of EcoLogical Solutions Inc. and CSO of The Saunders Hotel Group testified this afternoon at the State House hearing of S.1747, “An Act Combatting Climate Change,” sponsored by Senator Mike Barrett. Their full testimonies are below.
“Putting a price on carbon pollution will be good for the Commonwealth; it will help meet the mandates of the Global Warming Solutions Act; it will be good for the environment; it will be good for our citizens now and our children in the future; and it will drive growth in the clean energy sector,” said Freeman.
Bartlett, representing one of Massachusetts’ oldest industries, said, “Adopting carbon pricing in Massachusetts will allow us to make meaningful progress in reducing our state’s carbon footprint, fighting climate change, and protecting our fishing communities and economy….Our fishermen are fiercely independent and no fans of unnecessary regulation. However, they understand that carbon pricing is the fair, market-driven, simple, and common-sense way to make measurable progress in combatting climate change.”
