Kip Hollister, Alliance board member and founder/CEO of Hollister Staffing features in the Boston Business Journal this week.
“Hollister, who founded Hollister Staffing in Boston 25 years ago, knows that opting for deep, lasting relationships with clients has helped the company weather three difficult recessions,” says the Journal.
This recognition comes on the heels of Kip’s opinion piece in the Boston Herald co-authored with Alliance Leader Tom Dretler of Shorelight Education, laying out the business case for a raise in the minimum wage.
Kip is clear on the benefits of a higher wage structure for business, particularly in the Boston area: “It is no secret that Boston is struggling to attract and retain top talent–particularly in technology. Boston continues to be ranked within the top ten most expensive cities in the country. Because of this, we are losing talent to neighboring, less expensive cities including Providence and Philadelphia. The reality is that increasing the minimum wage is only one critical piece of Boston’s talent competition puzzle, yet it is a piece that is actionable and impactful. It is a must for Boston to survive in the war for talent.”
The Alliance congratulates Kip on her leadership in the public arena towards creating a more just and sustainable society, and on twenty-five years of business success.
