The internet has been abuzz with talk of the recent “Come Together” initiative, which is using newspaper ads, websites, and even coffee cups to urge Congress to find a productive resolution to the fiscal cliff crisis. Presented by Starbucks,, and the Committee for a Responsible Budget, this non-partisan appeal has successfully garnered both support and (occasionally snarky) attention.

Fix the Debt Campaign
As an active member of the CRFB, we encourage our members to learn more about its Campaign to Fix the Debt and the Come Together initiative, and to find your own ways to help get the message to Congress about the need for action to avoid the fiscal cliff. The CFRB is a bipartisan, non-profit organization committed to educating the public about issues that have significant fiscal policy impact.  Two of its principal players are Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles, authors of the bipartisan Presidential Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform on how to solve America’s deficit crisis through a balance of expenditure and revenue reforms.

Take Action
Unfortunately, the news in this morning’s CFRB briefing was not positive, as even the most optimistic suggest it’s more likely the crisis will be postponed rather than resolved. This makes it all the more important to make our voices heard on this critical issue. Please, take this moment and send a message to Congress, and share with us in the comments what you think about these final days of fiscal cliff negotiations.
