Sebastian Zapata joined the Alliance for Business Leadership as Program Director in January 2016, having previously served as a staffer in State Representative Liz Malia’s office. As Legislative Aide to Representative Malia, Sebastian was tasked with constituent casework, community building and tracking and crafting testimony for all co-sponsorship legislation.
Sebastian graduated UMass Amherst where he majored in Political Science and minored in Sociology. While at UMass he aided in multiple research projects centered around education reform and youth voter turn out. Upon graduation Sebastian became heavily involved in Boston politics and government, as he went to work as the Latino Vote Director for the Felix Arroyo for Mayor campaign and later as a Field Organizer for the Martin Walsh for Mayor campaign and Martha Coakley for Governor campaign.
Sebastian is heavily invested in his neighborhood, where he was elected to the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council and helps mentor high school youth on the weekends at the Hyde Square Task Force in Jamaica Plain.
