This fall and winter, join The Alliance for Business Leadership and likeminded members of the business community to learn about and discuss the realities of climate change in Massachusetts and the opportunities in transitioning to a clean energy economy.
The topic of “mitigation” proves to be more relevant than ever. In October, leading scientists announced that the world would need to drastically change the way we’re currently living, consuming energy or we will see life-or-death situations in the future. If we’re going to save the planet, everyone has a role in the discussion – calling on the business community! It’s imperative that business leaders understand these issues, what is at stake, and use their platforms to highlight the need to take action.
At session II, “Resiliency isn’t enough, the case for mitigation” we’ll discuss the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the impacts of climate change. PAUSE. What does that statement even mean? What are these buzzword we keep hearing – mitigation – resiliency – adaptation? Have no fear, David Cash, former undersecretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, and currently Dean and Associate Professor of UMass Boston’s McCormack Grduate school, will join us to cover all the basics and the role business leaders can play.
